a brave, chivalrous endeavor: the epicness of bloggery

  • mradams333 · 1 month ago
At first I was sad. I thought, "How sad to spend your day following arrows taped to a door/floor". But then I really thought about it...and how sad it is really, to spend your day watching a video of someone following the arrows taped to the door/floor. Ha/Ha. I guess when it all comes down to the point of the day, just make sure you are following the arrows taped down by God...because they won't lead you to the wrong stage :)

Had a 2 1/2 hour Root Canal today...***oww*** but I thought of your songs, had them in my head, "Can I Lie Here In Your Arms??...Save me!!" Fo Sho NOT "I never wanna leave, no I never wanna leave this place." Haha. Thanks for the music in my head during my Root Canal!!

This was GREAT! and just curious--shouldn't you have someone to "RUN your errands" for you, Dave? lol! Hey, if you need a volunteer--I'm volunteering!! I'll be happy to run and get your "rock-strap" --or whatever else you forget--from the bus (no matter the distance)!! :-) Thanks for your music---it draws me closer to the Lord! See you guys in 2 days in Indy--I'm sooooo excited, I feel like a kid on Xmas day!
  • medallionmickey · 2 weeks ago
This is the first time I have ever blogged, and it happened because of a DC band hallway video. I was thinking the same- to volunteer to be his go-for or at least ask the first few girls around to borrow their hair bands. We went to Portland to see the band in October...and last year Lifest in Oshkosh.
  • Rachel Dingler · 2 months ago
I'll have you know that I was completely "glued" to all 245 seconds of this video and even yelled out a "Yay!" when you retrieved the "rock strap" from the bus :) That was quite a jog and I was winded just watching the vid! LOL!!!
Wanted to see you guys in concert FOR-EVER and finally got to last Sunday in Detroit, MI. It was the best time and the highlight of the night was the meet and greet with you all afterward!
I'm very grateful for the musical talent the Lord has blessed you all with, as through your music, His word is further spoken into my life so magnificently!
    Blessings to you all!

that was soooo much fun...and hey, your Chicago concert was fantastic! I don't know who made all the smiley faces, but that was really, really cool!
  • runner_8_48 · 1 month ago
I agree! The Chicago show was awesome! And, I'm glad you enjoyed the smiley faces. I made them to bless and encourage DC*B.

haha, you guys are awesome! Church Music is brilliant! Thanks for sharing your amazing song writing skills with the world!

I almost came to that Chicago show! I go to school here in Chicagoland, but the tickets were all sold out by the time I went to get them :(

I'm very excited that you are blogging! I love your music. And even more so, I love the personalities that make up DCB.
As for that venue...you would think they could make a straighter shot from the bus dock to the stage. A little less up and down on the stairs. By the looks of it you ran in a suit. Mas Kudos to you bro!
  • Anthony David Hill · 2 months ago
wow..you were quite winded. I love how all you hear is your footsteps and heavy breathing in the empty hallways and stairwells. oh and I agree that a blog is most necessary.
  • Matt Strode · 2 months ago
haha nice. I saw Seabird's rendition of the bus to stage walk, and I liked the jokes that you told on yours… Funny! I'll be sure to try and read the blog. Keep praising the Lord with your music!
    God Bless!

dude, seriously funniest thing ever. hubster & i were laughing so hard we were nearly crying. that is our church home. we love it there. so blessed & thankful for that church. thankful for that donated-to-us-free part of the bldg that has the longest hallway ever. totally think those halls are some kind of evil. loved your baseball joke, took a sec to get it. funniest thing... when you got to the bus, hubster goes "Doh! Whose got the keys?!?!" seriously that would have been quite a trip. go all that way to find it locked. we were at the concert. so glad we know now what took so stinkin' long and that we had to hear that cheer over and over and over and over, lol. kudos though, none of us could tell you were winded when you started singing. good job. come see us again, you know you want to. we want to help keep you in shape. :) you know, and hear you sing a little too of course.

on a serious note, you guys are the greatest ever to see in concert. so personable with the audience, so stinkin' funny, such great voices, nifty instruments, worshiping God with hands lifted high and singing loud together with other worshipers, etc. amazing. best night.

keep up the great work!!! and hey, thx for your patience with our building. :)
  • flapjacksmike · 2 months ago
Yes, this blog is very epic. You guys are awesome. I love your music. It is amazing. Especially neverending and forever and ever, etc.
  • Donna Earnhardt · 2 months ago
Okay. so blogging is necessary for folks like you...and me...and all the others out there who can't seem to contain their commentary on the world and all that's in it to small spaces. I have a twitter - but had to get off FB. As your youtube so aptly described...it's a killer. Okay, maybe not - but it could be. And as I have WAY too much to say, I couldn't take the chance. :)

Hey - welcome to the blogosphere. Put on your seatbelts and helmets and hang on!

    peace,
    Donna

I have a thousand things to do before going to bed, but I still watched all 4:06 min. of you running. Why is that?!? What a maze! Glad you made it. Thanks for Church Music: unique sounds/music, lyrics that connect my heart to God.
  • Jeff Harding · 2 months ago
I also use a Rockstrap when playing...they do a great job of holding your spectacles in place... For someone who has no idea what its like to perspire they just cant relate to the necessity of such a contraption. I like your design of using your wife's hair thingy's. Another way to take a lil piece of her with you on the road. Please take the time to share other tips and tricks you come to find useful while navigating through life on tour. Thanks, Jeff
  • Paul · 2 months ago
I feel not unlike a lemming, metaphorically speaking, because I just watched a 2 minute 45 second video of you running to grab something you forgot in your bus and then back. And if you were anyone else, I'm not sure I would have sat through all of it. So I suppose you have achieved some sort of celebrity status. Or something like that. At least the jokes on the walking video made up for it. All in all an enjoyable start to the David Crowder* Blog.
  • trentc · 2 months ago
Good thing for those arrows! Man.. you've gotta be in shape to run through a place like that! I would have passed out on the run back through the hallway... so long.

I'm so glad to see that there are others out that *get* what blogging is about.
  • Christopher Mills · 2 months ago
interesting... so, is the origin of the word "rock-strap" related at all to the word "jock-strap"?
Actually, rather than "leaking all over", I think a more accurate phrase might be "gushing like a waterfall". My sister and I were situated at the very front of the stage at the Roxy gig, right in front of your mic. (In fact, we were so close, you gave her a high five when you walked out on stage.) However, we put a little bit of space between us and the stage... so we wouldn't be showered with your sweat!!!! hahahahaha It was a fun gig!
  • Stashymama · 2 months ago
haha, Christopher - we were right next to you!

The first video makes me think of Wizard of Oz... follow the yellow brick road, or perhaps in this case, "follow the yellow tape road"!

Hilarious! Under sports you've mentioned 'running'... uh, really!? And what in the world kind of shoes were you wearing!?!??! Your running really sounded like the asian monster films from generation ago, which I used to love. Just didn't expect to hear that in your running... LOL

Dave, this is epic indeed, and to think without a blog of it we would not have gotten to hear /see this story until the day we get to sit around the celestial campfire of the Father! Thanks for keeping the blog fires burning!
Not sure why the fire analogies are flowing that's a little strange. sorry..
PLUS this was extremely interesting to the 10 yr old boy, who was intrigued to know that THIS is why it took so long for you all to appear on stage that night! :)
  • miketatu · 1 month ago
I loved the whispered "Oh no!"s and "Oh crap!"s in the second video. I gotta say too, the fact that you carried and aimed the camera the entire time that you were running was beyond funny. Seriously, there really wasn't a parking place closer than that? Were you still in Chicago when you got to the stage?

    I really wish I could be your PA, I'm really good at doing that kind of "Gofer" Stuff, and would love to help out... It's a bad Idea for the lead singer of a band to be sprinting that long a distance before going on stage, being winded and having a kickstart to the whole Sweatin' factor... Yeah... I find that kinda stuff fun though ^^;;

Haha I've been listening to Church Music and have been inspired to write songs for my band. We were focused on having originals that were not neccesarily worship, but now my writing is becoming more styled towards your style of writing. Thank you for truly inspiring me, I'd love for you to know that you are inspiring not only the worship of this generation but those coming up to the scene (My band is all 17 year olds). I pray that you would continue to do God's work so that it may speak to others (and myself). I doubt it will happen, but I would love to hear back from you haha.

this story is epic! The running back from the bus is hilarious! It's particularly touching to us (my family, that is), because we were at this show, right next to Mark's pedalboard, and I hear what sounds like my 5 year old son joining in the "DAVID CROWDER!! clap-clap, CLAP-CLAP-CLAP!!!" chant (at the top of his lungs)! At which time I remembered us partaking in said chant! Good times, and great show - thanks for sharing!
